Vinification and ageingFresh, fruity and fragrant
The grapes are harvested by hand into small crates. As soon as the grapes arrive at the winery, they are subject to soft pressing and maceration at low temperatures. Fermentation of the various grape varieties takes place in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks.
The wine then rests on its fine lees throughout the winter and is then bottled in the spring following the harvest.

WindhundA wine sculpted by the wind, like Albrecht Dürer's greyhound.
The name Windhund, which means greyhound in German, is a tribute to the great German Renaissance artist Albrecht Dürer, whose nature-themed etchings are famous throughout the world.
The link between Steinhaus and the Renaissance artist is close: the famous Dürer Trail, an ancient path linking the Germanic world to the Mediterranean, runs through the estate. Its name originates from the fact that Dürer himself travelled it on his journey to Venice in 1494.
